Fundraising Committee
The Glen Waverley South Primary School Fundraising Committee is a subcommittee of School Council. We consist of a group of committed parents/friends who organise and run fundraising events together. These events significantly contribute to our school by raising funds for special projects and add an extra level of enjoyment to events, such as running a BBQ on House Athletics Day.
In recent years our fundraising efforts have gone towards our new LED Sign at the front of our school and new shade sails to cover the playgrounds.
The aim of the Fundraising Committee is to support the students, continue building our school community to ensure each student at GWSPS enjoys learning and achieves his/her full potential. We try to balance our fundraisers to consider the school calendar and day time/night time events. We aim to only plan events which are low cost to participants or which offer greater fundraising potential.
Whether you are able to help in a hands-on role, or wish to attend meetings to gather information about your child’s school, we welcome all community members to join. There is no requirement to attend all meetings or assist with all events. All our members contribute what time and energy they can and together as a team we make the events happen. For larger events such as Bunnings BBQs we put a call out to the wider school committee and call upon parents, grandparents and other family’ members for assistance and support.
Some of our fundraisers include:
- Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day stalls
- Easter and Christmas Raffles
- Running the kiosk at the biannual school production
- Kids’ Trivia
- School Disco
- Bunnings and Election Day BBQs
- Subway lunch and Special food days
- Donation days to fundraise for charities including The Cancer Council and The Heart Foundation.
How does an event work?
Our calendar of events is confirmed at the start of each year. Each member has the opportunity to bring new ideas to the table - we are always looking for new and different ideas to trial. Each event will have a different voluntary coordinator (you will have the opportunity to choose the event you wish to coordinate). The coordinator will delegate roles to other members and manage the event with the GWSPS Business Manager and Fundraising Committee Purchaser (who purchases all items for events and claims reimbursement). All other Fundraising Committee members will assist if they are available. Each event will have a different coordinator and everyone will have the opportunity to be involved.
We value every contribution, no matter how large or small. If you are a member of the GWSPS Community and would like to be involved in the 2020 Fundraising Committee, please contact the office.
